    my keepon

My keepon is one funky little dancing robot and is forecast to a best seller for Christmas 2011; it brings back memories of when we were kids and first saw those dancing sunflowers. Technology has advanced a lot since then and the my keepon is not just a regular dancing robot, its the toy version of a $30,000 research robot. Research robot? You may think that sounds boring but it is most definitely not.

The professional research ‘keepon’ costs $30,000 per robot and has become an internet sensation, amassing over 4 million hits on YouTube of the adorable little yellow ‘blobs’ dancing to various tunes. The research Keepon has a lot of technology inside to justify the £30,000 price tag and has helped therapists and researchers study social interaction with children, particularly children who have some form of autism.

My keepon won’t have the same level of functionality, but it still manages to keep all of the fun features at a drastically reduced price. It will still respond to touch and sound. In dance mode the clever electronics inside detect the beat of music and my keepon dances along to it. What makes it totally different to any other dancing robot is that it will adjust the dance moves it performs to match whatever type of music you’re listening to. You can even plug your iPod or other music player into its speakers to get my keepon bopping along to your mp3 collection.

In touch mode sophisticated sensors under the ‘skin’ allow my keepon to cleverly react to pats, poke, and tickles with a rich variety of emotional movements and sounds. Kids of all ages will find themselves immersed and fascinated with my keepon.

Each sale made will also help to fund further research into childrens social interaction, a percentage of each sale will go towards helping therapists and researchers to continue their good work. By buying a my keepon you’ll not only bring joy and happiness to someone special this Christmas but you’ll also help fund research that will hopefully improve the quality of life for many thousands of other youngsters.

It’s been described as a yellow blob, two tennis balls stuck together and a few other slightly weird concoctions. But, whatever it looks like it is instantly endearing and will put a smile on your face. Don’t just take our word for it though, see for yourself by looking at my keepon videos.

There’s not long left now until it is officially released. More and more retailers are signing up to sell my keepon and it continues to be featured and forecast as one of the top Christmas presents in 2011.
